I don’t think you even read the entire post because I clearly mention that the American flag is meaningful to me personally (i.e. my grandfathers who fought in war, etc.). However, warning against the dangers of nationalism within our society is maybe the most important message of our current religious/political climate. Nationalism of any kind is idolatry and should not have a place in the Church.
